Retirement Party
When a person has spent their life working they will eventually reach the age when they are ready to retire and spend the rest of their life at a slower pace. A retirement party is a great way to show the retiree that you have enjoyed working with them and that you will miss them after their retirement.
Many companies will give a retirement party to the person who is retiring. This is the way the company has of showing that person how much they have appreciated all of their hard work through the years. Often the company will provide a meal and let the other employees toast the retiree.
You will find plenty of retirement party ideas on the Internet or at a local party store. There are a lot of different themes to choose from including some cool retirement party decorations. You can use things like banners, balloons, and specific types of tableware that is designed for retirement parties.
When planning your retirement party you will want to give the guests the option of giving the retiree a gift. This can be a small token of appreciation or even gag gifts that bring a lot of fun to the party. You will also want to plan some retirement party games to keep things lively and fun. You don't have to go out and spend a lot of money on retirement party games. You can look at the interests of the retiree and come up with some simple retirement party games that all can enjoy.
If you are going to have the retirement party in your home you will probably want to serve simple finger foods that are easy to manage. Sandwiches and chip and dip make great retirement party foods and there is not a lot of mess to clean up after the party. You can also arrange a fruit and cheese tray that everybody will enjoy. You need to remember to keep it simple so that you are not overworked and too tired to enjoy the party. If possible enlist the help of some of your friends to help you put the party together. This way you will not have the entire workload on your shoulders.
You should send out retirement party invitations to everybody you want to attend. Ask everybody to RSVP so that you can have a good idea of the number of people who plan to attend. This allows you to plan you food quantities and to also arrange for the proper number of seats for the guests.
Keep the invitations simple and let the guests know whether or not gifts are expected. Some people prefer to just get together and have a good time rather than having to spend money on gifts that can be expensive. Most retirees will just enjoy the chance to see everyone and have to opportunity to socialize with those who attend. If you want you can always ask the guests to provide a donation when they RSVP so that you can purchase one large gift that will be meaningful to the retiree. This way nobody has to spend a lot of money. |
